In the old days, Carpenter Street was called “attap street” because of the thatch houses on both sides of the streets.  Makeshift workshops  and all kinds of skill trades were set up along both sides of the road.  During the Brooke era the government got rid of those vice trade and allow that skill trade…

Visiting the old court house is like taking a trip down memory lane, big trees and central courtyard, is a lovely place to wander around, make you wonder what had taken place in the vicinity during the bygone era.

Song Kheng Hai Hawker Centre.  A very popular eating place for office workers, here is one comment : “Definitely the best place to get different varieties of gong pia here… The minced pork n cheese one is highly recommended… Don’t forget to try the Rojak here as they add in crispy yu char Kueh!!”
